“Thank you so much for providing my daughter’s glasses. This expense just wasn’t possible with our household income. My daughter loves her new glasses and is doing better in school!

“Habit of the Heart” started with a committee of 7 women who thought they could make a difference with their first fundraiser!
1996
A group of women met informally at Dave’s All American Pizza to learn about philanthropy. “Connecting With Women” was the first name with a goal to involve women in Hendricks County with Philanthropy. Money was made and the grass roots of Habit of the Heart was started.
2001
With 7 committee members the first fundraising event was held at the Gazebo at Prestwick Country Club.
2004
Committee membership doubled and amount raised was significant.
2005
Another milestone, committee initiates its own permanent fund in the Community Foundation and a 2 day event is started and in (1) weekend nets $20,000.
2015
Committee now 46 members and $80,000 was raised. Many children have been helped by what was established by a few women 15 years ago
2016
I can truthfully say, I would never have believed that all of the things that have been accomplished by the women in Hendricks County for women and children since that meeting in 2016. It takes all of us here today, plus that committee of 47, to make this happen.
2019
The ladies of Habit of the Heart held their Silent Purse Auction luncheon at the Country Club of Indianapolis featuring Mina Starsiak Hawk from Two Chicks and a Hammer. More funds were raised from this event for the Habit of the Heart Grant Fund.
2024
Habit of the Heart becomes its own 501(c)3 Foundation. On November 7, 2024, Habit of the Heart will hold their inaugural Designer Handbag Bunco Event at the CRG Event Center. The event promises to be a great fundraiser while partnering with many Hendricks County Businesses. The Hendricks County community has always been so generous in sharing their time, talent and treasures so that Habit of the Heart can continue their mission of helping children, women and families in emergent need.
